What we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do about it
This notice explains what Breeze Marine Boat Service LLC collects about you, why, how long we keep it, and what rights you have. It is written to meet the notice-at-collection requirement of the California Consumer Privacy Act.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Name, email address, telephone number, postal address | To contact you, send documents, and issue invoices. |
| Your relationship to the vessel — owner, co-owner, captain, broker | To know who is authorising the work, and who is responsible for paying. |
| Vessel details: name, make, model, year, hull identification number, registration number, engine details, and where it is kept | To do the work correctly, order the right parts, and identify the vessel on documents. |
| Photographs of the vessel before, during and after work | To record its condition and what was done. This protects you as much as us. |
| The documents you sign, and your signature | Because they are the agreement between us. |
| At signing: the date and time, your IP address, your browser and device characteristics, and a fingerprint of the exact document shown to you | So that both of us have a reliable record of what was agreed and when. |
| At signing, if you provide them: a one-time passcode sent to your email or telephone, a photograph taken at signing, a photograph of your identification with its type and last four digits, and your approximate location | To establish that the signature was made by you. All of these are optional and you can sign without any of them. |
| Payments, and how they were made | To apply them to the right invoice and meet our tax obligations. |
| Correspondence with you: emails between you and us about your vessel, which are copied into your job file automatically, and any messages you or we save to the file | To keep a record of what was agreed. Only email to or from an address on your file is copied; nothing else in our mailbox is. |
Your information is held in our own business records. It is seen by the owner and by our technicians, each of whom has their own sign-in, so our records show who did what.
We disclose it outside the business only:
We have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding twelve months, and we do not intend to.
Signed agreements, invoices, job records and photographs are kept for at least four years after the work, because that is the period in which a claim on a written contract may be brought in California (Code Civ. Proc. § 337), and records that are gone cannot defend either of us. Tax records are kept as long as the law requires. Signing passcodes are deleted once used or expired.
You have the right to:
To exercise any of them, contact us using the details below. We will verify who you are before we act — usually by sending a code to the address already on your record — and respond within the time the law allows.
The portal is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information about children.
Access to our records requires an individual sign-in. Documents you sign are fingerprinted so that any later alteration is detectable. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim ours is; if anything happens that affects your information, we will tell you.
If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it.
